Ancient masacre site

YIKES! That one skull cap almost looks like it was sliced with a saw. Could a primitive axe have done that? Creepy. Wonder if there were any weapons with the skeletons?

Around the same time, here in Iowa, occurred a similar event, but on a larger scale. A village of 500 was wiped out. 90 percent of the dead uncovered were scalped and hands, feet, and tongues were cut off. It's called the Crow Creek Disaster.

Who did it, bean man, any idea? Were the Aztecs making forays into the north?

TT, they think it was Central Plains tradition societies, moving in on Middle Missouri tradition societies. The site is in northwest Iowa. Looks like the intruders got wiped out.

So much for the bucolic days of the Native American, eh? ;) Once again proving that wars are not unique to modern man.

It never ceases to amaze me all the stuff under our feet. So many layers of history just waiting to be exposed.

I always heard white man taught the native how to scalp. Kind of busts that myth.

got a few her in illinois also
