One of our Archie groups was crying out for help.(yesterday) I think they thought they had a great site & although their are features & pottery from both Iron Age & Roman, it's not given us the impression of a site we would target. The lack of, 0 Roman coins mean most of the settlement most have been mostly Iron Age.
We only spent just less than 2 hours & had a pretty good result but not great;

Hammered - Ed III - Fourth coinage Treaty Period (1361-1369) Penny, London Mint
Lead Weight
Foreign Copper Coin needs IDing, 1768 I think
If it gets confirmed my best piece of Iron Age Pot shard - Dug it from the spoil that came from a ditch in the trench, Archies missed it, only only found it because of a coken can under it!
Bits.....

Land-mag, how do you want to return this?

Not great? Am I missing something? This is awesome from where I am from. That would be a banner day for me. NICE

Never heard of such a thing. If you are talking about all the finds that we give to the Archies, they are not part of the British Government, they are effectively private companies contracted by the developers. They follow British Law & report to whats left of the Government Archies, as only they can close down a trench. All finds end up in local museums, & I couldn't care less if the named me as the finder. I'm not after any glory.
