I was off on Monday & Tuesday, so went detecting. Monday I went to an abandoned school. Beautiful fall Montana day, I managed to find my 4th Merc, a 1926-S, and 4 pennies, 1918D, a couple from the 40's, and a 1960. I also found a silver Catholic medal, my 1st. Might have to hit this place again, not many targets, but they were all quality.

Yesterday I had to take my 2 hunting compadres to the groomer, so I was flying solo. I decided to try a lake that had a beach area that I had never hunted before. It's seen use for many years, so figured it might be worth a look. Absolutely gorgeous day, the kind that make me love fall in Montana, 80's, clear, and duck & other shore birds all around me as I detected. I had a stellar day here, found a ring right away, silver with a purple stone that happens to be my wife's birth stone, so guess who claimed it as soon as she saw it? She tolerates my detecting and puts up with me, so she more than deserves this small silver ring. I was digging lots of clad, I ended up with 17 dimes, 14 pennies & 4 quarters. I also found my second walking liberty half, a 1921-S, and a 1926-S Mercury dime in the same hole!

I got a weakish good hit, that I couldn't repeat from all angles, so started digging. The soil was sandy, but like firmer, wet sand, and I kept digging and the signal was still there. I was literally down about as deep as the handle on my Lesche digger, and was about to give up. I scooped up what was going to be my last handfull of sand when I felt the disc in the bottom of the hole. Out popped my 2nd Walker, and was I a happy camper! I rescanned the hole and was getting a good hit, finally found the Merc, another 1926-S. These 2 Mercs of the same date & mint were probably seperated by 50 miles, what are the odds? My 4th Merc this summer, and until a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't buy one it seemed. I hope this streak of luck continues, it's been a stellar summer with my M-6, it's a coin magnet for sure.

Take care folks, keep 'em swinging, and best of luck to everyone!

Wow, for real? :o, is it considered a key date? I've got to invest in a Redbook! Take care...

:o awesome finds jtshombre ! be sure to hit that place more and goodluck

Sweet finds, sweet silver. Congrats dude.

I've given up on holes before, about a month ago, I had the hardest time finding my target, but kept at it, was only a 46' rosie, but from there after I never give up, might be good.

Good luck,
HH.

Wow, Impressive finds  all of them. So close, but ....... ???, with the dime it seems :o
and Yep, I recently found my oldest coin a 1953, 6 pence at about 12 inches.

congrats on the silver,Never give up on a silver hit !!!!

Even a fine would be worth $300.00,yours is a good. In high grades the 21-s is the Key date. Others worth more in low grades are the 16-s,21,21-d and 38-d,now go and find them! HH Kane 23
