My son and I braved the rain the past two days for a couple of hunts back the woods where I found a War of 1812 button a week ago. The area was an impressive old homestead at one time, now mostly overgrown.
Within 5 minutes of arriving my son found a nice 1864 Indian head cent. The grade is nice, it will clean up well.

A short time later while checking out the cellar hole I pulled out a 1832 Nova Scotia half penny token. It was up against the wall and underneath a large old hinge. I am really liking our new AT Max, its recovery is so fast I am finding things I never would have found before.

Also in the cellar I found a butt plate from an old gun, this is the second one of these I have found. I am thinking this might be from an 1853 Enfield but can't really be sure. Any gun experts out there who might know?

There are some markings but unfortunately they are mostly missing where it has broken.

We got a few other odds and ends as well, no buttons this time

Today we were going to go back to the same spot but decided to bypass it and check out the road it is on. I figured that there just had to be something in there...

And about 5 feet in from where the water started we found a watch

It is a little worse for wear, it was not very deep and has had more than a few ATV's run over it. I am going to check out my old maps that list the homesteads in the area and see if I can find a name matching the initials. They look to be W, something, D. The middle initial might be an H, hard to tell.
We also went back to another area where I have been finding a lot of 1860's coins. My son found an 1864 New Brunswick Cent about 50 feet from where I found an 1864 Nova Scotia cent a few weeks back, so now we have a nice pair, I really like the apple green patina, once they are both carefully cleaned of the dirt they should be nice.

Finally we also found a shot shell end, usually we don't keep these as we have found so many but this one looked different. A bit of investigation says that this shell was made between 1892 and 1911 so it is an early one.
