With all the rain we've had this week, I was really looking forward to getting out.
As I was leaving the house, my wife expressed an interest in getting a "few"
things done around the yard after lunch (I knew what that meant
)
so I had to trim my hunting time down to two hours.
I needed someplace close so I opted for a farm site that I had researched a
day or two earlier. The out-buildings & house had been gone for at least 60-years
but I had a general idea of where the house may have stood. When I got to the
site, I found it to be densely wooded with mature trees and patches of Buckthorn.
After poking around for awhile, I saw a large tree surrounded by rocks so I
thought this might have been the front yard. With this thought, I spent the
rest of my time hunting in this general area.

Aside from the usual pieces of rusted iron and broken glass you would expect at a site
like this, I did manage to find one coin. . . an 1874 Shield Nickel. . . my first!
(I'm wondering if there's a Seated lurking there
)
Thanks for looking!
