Lately I've been doing very quick trips out of town with only one night out. I leave east of the Rockies Sunday afternoon. Spend the night in Grand Junction and get up before dawn Monday morning and Head over to our place in Nucla, Colorado and grab the needed merchandise we sell and make my way back home here again east of the Rocky Mountains just before midnight. I don't have a lot a time to fart around, but I certainly do get to travel through some spectacular country. It was great seeing the rains finally come. The temps would be as high as the low 90s and then drop into the low 50s. The aroma of the wet pines was truly magnificent as the rain fell all over the central Rockies

We're going to visit your beautiful state in September. I can't wait. Great pics.
That's a good time to visit the high alpines. It seem all of nature is displaying its greatest splendor before the coming winter. I see more of the wildlife beginning in September. I even saw a few aspen leaves just beginning to turn higher up on Slumgullion pass this last trip.

Follow tamrock's advice on visiting the high alpines. Most of our state is pretty brown by September. Which part of Colorado will you be in?

Step son is in Denver, there for couple of days then 4-5 days sightseeing. I was in Colorado once in the 70's. Different wife, different life!

Rocky Mountain National Park is a good place to visit when you'll be here. Weekdays are the better than the weekends. Less traffic.

Great pictures
Colorado is very beautiful.
I love the trees that have the yellow leaves
