Anyone has any ideas what this thing is I dug from an old site? It was beside a flat button at the same depth. The things on it still move fairly easy. image-157978162.webp image-1588437512.webp image-2181294981.webp image-3831811187.webp image-2259855437.webp

Interesting :icon_scratch:???. Not a clue, but I like things you don't see posted everyday. Hope you get some good identifying info from the guys and girls here on Tnet. Also, I would post it in the "What Is It?" category instead of today's finds. Good luck. I'd be interested to find out what it is too.

My guess would be part from a suspender clip

How long is it? It looks like a hanger bar that once held some kind round ornamentation in those three holders.

The back is 1 3/4" and front is even 2". I was thinking something like you said.

I found one of those a while back. It's a piece to a suspender. Mine had a patent date but it looks like yours doesn't. Cool find!!!

Thanks for the info. Mine may have markings. The brown crust is starting to flake off. It looks like it will be all green underneath and may show patent date. I will put pics on if it does. Nice find to you also. :)

Smf399 is correct. Specifically, it is a strap-attachment part from President (brand) suspenders, manufactured in the early-1900s. Not any earlier than that, because (as the US Patent diagram shows) it was invented and patented in 1900, and improved in 1901.

Nice. Shows they were used up here in Nova Scotia back then. :)

I took a quick glance and mine has the date as well. I'm going to clean it better to see but I'm sure it is going to have the 1900.
