and came away with a few bullets. Anyone know anything about the small pistol bullet ?

Looks like a good hunt to me! Lots of nice saves there.
 
I think the pistol bullet is a .32 Volcanic
 
Not sure, maybe a .32 S&W revolver (CWPII #146)? Is that just mud and debris in the base?
 
No, that's a cork and brass insert. I found it in MM book #145 in the cartridge section
 
I've never heard of one of those being found in Missouri. I just wonder which unit was using those
 
I haven't either John. When I first dug it I thought is was a modern bullet but, then I noticed the base looked different.
