So I got out to my 1920’s permission this morning and got me my very first war nickel! I was hunting near the rear of the house and got a very small midtone, so I shoved the leaves aside and dug a good size plug (I prefer to dig big plugs in the wood so I don’t damage the target), took my pointer to the plug and pulled a .32 cal shell casing, when I swept around the hole I got a solid midtone and a intermittent high tone, poked around a bit and pulled a Jefferson nickel and a wheat penny, pulled a bit more dirt out and there was another nickel. I had a feeling that it was a war nickel (1942) as it was shiny and all other coins that come out of our soil turn cruddy Brown/red. My fur face buddy stood by to watch. The rest of my finds were a couple more wheaties, some clad,a pocket knife and some assorted odds and ends. Happy Hunting!!
