Well had the day off, met with the owner of a 1780's home in the Charlotte area. He told me 2 detectorist have been on his property in the last 20 years and didn't find much of anything.

I thought since this was the first time out, I would try to quick scan as much of the property as I could to see if there was anything there. To my surprise there are still good targets to find. I did have an agreement with the owner that he could see everything I found and could keep anything that peaked his interest. I dug a bunch of "what is its" but did manage a few good finds....

Coins: 1961-D quarter, 1942 Merc Dime, 3 wheaties (1924, 1950-D and 1958-D) a few memorials and 2 clad quarters. I also dug a nice cuff size flat button, back marked "WARRANTED ORANGE" 2 good luck tokens, 1 was a Home Comfort Ranges 75th anniversary token made of brass or copper dated 1939 (1864-1939) and a Educators Shoes token made of aluminum (no date). And a real cool 6" brass goose towel hook.

The owner looked over my finds and asked to keep the button, since it dated the property, the brass goose, because it was cool, the Merc dime (his favorite coin) and the Home Comfort Good Luck token since the house probably had the Home Comfort Range in it at one time.

There's a lot more ground there to cover and I'm sure I will be going back in the near future!. I may post pics of the what is its later but here's a few of the goodies. (I did not get a chance to get pictures of the items I gave to the property owner)

Congrats on the finds to both of you. Good luck on your next visit.

Real nice finds. Too bad the homeowner took so much of what you found, but it is his land afterall. Maybe next time he'll let you keep the lion's share.

Oops, almost forgot, I also got a spoon. "Cathedral Silver Plate"

I bet if the owner would have known that quarter was silver, he would have kept it. ;D ;D

Congrats on your finds there, Joe! You've been on a silver roll!!
