UPDATE: Final button pic after cleaning.
I can't understand why I seem to just HAVE to find sooooo many "interesting" things! What I mean is, why do I have to be saying "Whadifind now
" Almost EVERY time I go out?
LOL
Anyway, remember the mansion? Well, I paid it another visit today. The finds are pretty slow but the potential is just too great to let it go yet.
Here's the overall:

An old pocket knife. Been in the ground long enough to almost completely fall apart.

Blank tag.

Brass thingy, filled with lead.

Brass hose fitting, and a lead doughnut.

Looked like a crown.

Ricochet.

3 coins in the fountain.

Ingersoll watch.

Now, these were very interesting. I saw a stand of very old trees that were behind the area where the servant's quarters used to be. What would start going thru your mind if, at the base of a couple of these trees you start uncovering these lids from Mason jars? Well, I did too. There was nothing under these but there are quite a few trees to be explored. I WILL be spending time in this little grove.
At least I did get one porcelain lid that was complete anyway.

That brings me to this "what is it". Not sure if it's readable in the pics but it says, "pat nov 24 1857 extended nov 24 187?5. There are threads on it and the small piece is still attached to them by a tiny piece of the threads. So, maybe a plug of some sort? The edge is textured either for grip or show.
Not sure what else to do to clean it.
Then, there was this next thing. It's tiny and I believe it's silver. It came out of the ground like this. Looking at the back it looks like it may have been a button at one time. Any thoughts? UPDATE: IT TESTED TO 90-100% SILVER.

And, lastly, Buckleboy? I found this button and in the field it looked like a WW1 / WW2 era. It may still be but when I got it home I noticed a letter in the center and the gilt seems to be in pretty good shape. I can't read anything on the back. I want to treat this historical find with the respect it deserves so I've not tried to clean or wash it. Thought I'd take suggestions on how I should proceed to restore.

Thanks everyone, for taking a moment to view.
HH!
