Found a 1871 ih in real good shape within 5 feet of the shoe buckle any idea of the date of the buckle ? Its a cast copper, rounded corners. With a loop chapes with 2 spikes pitchfork double tongue. 1720-1790s.
Great find in one piece! Love to add that to my collection.

Me too, I don't think I have any large intact of this type. The plough distroys them.

Tanz that's a great shoe buckle. My favorite relic for sure. I've been lucky to find about 15 of them. 4 or 5 complete
 
I've been working a colonial site for 3-4 months. Lots of great period finds but oddly enough not one buckle. Not even a partial if I remember correctly. Would love to have one of yours
