Antique Door Rim Lock

I finally got permission to hunt an old farm house. Not to sure about the build date of it, maybe 1920's possibly earlier. Anywho... All I had with me was my sons machine which is made for kids and all I found was trash. His detector will only hit a target at about 2 or 3 inches. Great for clad at the parks but not for older homes. I happen to find the door latch by eye. It was laying under some of the ruble from where the back side of the home collapsed.

I took it apart and cleaned it up with a toothbrush and got it back in working order. I should have taken some pictures of what it looked like on the inside before it was cleaned. Lots of dirt and rust.

I added a few photos of the house I was hunting. The 2 picture of the inside were taken from the front window. Looks to creepy to go inside, that and I don't want to fall through the floor.

Thanks... When I first found it, all the parts were froze and nothing moved. Now it works great, just wish I could find a skeleton key for it.

Thanks. After I took it apart to clean it, I had to figure out how it went back together. Luckily I'm pretty good at that kind of stuff.

Heck of a job restoring that piece! looks great! and that spot would be a chore to hunt with any machine... looks like it would be nail city, and hard to swing with all the overgrowth. If you can get back in there with the delta, take it slowwww. You should be able to find some more goodies there!
