Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this old wooden chest. I picked it up at an estate sale, but i haven't been able to find anything like it anywhere. It measures 25" by 15" by 20" high. It has 2" dovetail joints. Thanks.

Nice looking chest. My impression is it's a one of a kind High School, or home wood shop project. Kind of crude. The hinges and appliques are hand cut, roughly smoothed out. Wood looks to be old growth dead wood pine maybe. Judging from the screws used, and the wood still fairly bright, my guess would be mid 1900's. IMO.

I think it is fairly modern made to look old. The worm holed wood had the worm holes before it was made. Can't see the dovetails in the photos.

Thanks for the info.

There are only 3 large dovetails. The photo with the tape measure is showing the dovetail at 2 1/4".
