Hi any clues as to age and date and use, That is a 1906 V nickle next to it found at the same sight, I also found a brass wedding band there
That is also possible. But normally those are square bottomed rather than rounded. Another thought is for mixing water color type paint. The more I look at it that seems a very distinct possibility.
