Does anyone know what this object is in the center. It seems like brass and has a round end with a small piece extending below it. It was found on an old plantation site with modern and old artifacts.

I wish I could tell you. I used a tooth pick but could not see any indication. A lot of the copper coins that I find in this area are in that condition.
