it came from the same site this place was occuped in the early 1820s. it has a lions head and appears to be half of a two peice any help would be appreciated. thanks again, wendell.

Wendell, on page 212 of Gavin's book Accoutrement Plates North & South, figure 178 a picture of a buckle much like yours can be found. Gavin states that they were imported by the confederacy, seized from blockade runners by the north and sold by Bannermans for years. I hope this helps you out. trk5capt...
