Any ideas what may have happen to this dime

Here is a pic of a dime i found at a old home site it was just 2in down it looks like this on both side if u look real close on one side with mag glass i can make out one dime in the center so i think it was a barber what a shame it was my first silver find it looks like it was melted or dipped in acid idk

I have a dime that looks like yours twin, It was found atop of Stumphouse mountain outside Walhalla,S.C. Found below an ash layer, looks like pizza dough, but if you look in the right light, you can make out the front and back looks like etching. i figured it had been burnt in a camp fire. At least thats my story and im sticking to it! HH

I would guess it is a victim of a gravel road. From all the dents from the gravel and cars running over it.
