Hello, I stumbled across this site in my search and thought this may be a good challenge. This was found in my wife's grandmother's closet after she passed away. The wheel is fixed. It does not move up and down, only spins when the rope is pulled. There are no springs in the handles. I thought it may be some sort of an old exercise gadget but I have absolutely no idea how to use it or even if that is what it is. No markings of any kind. Any ideas??

Sure looks like some type of portable exercise pulley.

I agree with everyone on it being exercise equipment. It appears you could hold on to the handle bars, put your feet in the stirrups, and then exercise your legs (up/down via the pulley.) The stick portion would be on the floor, and one could exercise while seated in a chair. Try it and let us know. Breezie
