Definitely has writing across the piece but I cannot make out many of the letters.

Yes it is iron. After overnight electrolysis I can make out “70 B”IMG_5159.webp on the middle line

almost looks like part of a lawn mower or brushhog blade?

Was it found on the beach or on farm land? If farm I would say its the piece that holds the plow or mold board in position on a mule drawn plow.

A mile from the beach, not farmland though.
I think I can make out:
MODEL
70B
NEW STYLE

Maybe an auto part - Model 70B Willys
The 70-B series was introduced in 1929 and lasted into 1931, when Willys-Overland at last ended its fidelity to the sleeve-valve engine. In 1929 Willys-Overland brought out the Willys-Knight Great Six as a larger, more opulent series to challenge the luxury market in a final attempt to establish a Knight-engined car there.

I think it may be a piece broken off of an antique single-bottom plowshare or blade, similar to this one:
