From what I can see, they look to be one-piece flat cuff buttons Mike. :icon_scratch:
We need to have some closer pics to see the back-marks to date them more accurately.

Your button is likely tombac metal and dates to the 1820 - 30 period.
You little brass shield is a saddle decoration. The attachments in the back would've been hammered through the leather then bent over.
