Any information on a military button/ stud?

Found this in Port Hope Ontario. Can anyone shed any light on it.
The back is a small slightly flared stud

always best to have a commonly known item in the pic for size reference. Looks like a saddle decoration in my opinion

It may be a pants stud from Star Brand work clothes.

Looks like a stud that is probably from civilian clothing. As for the date hopefully someone else can help you with that.
