Found this on sale in classifieds. It looks exotic.... advertised as a gold brooch with garnet. Masonic, perhaps?

I don't have it in hand. I just saw it tonight on the local classifieds. It looked like a cool piece... like nothing I've seen before. I will see if the OP will send me some markings...

Beautiful! What does the back look like? I'm betting it has a hooded c-catch, which is typical for these piece -- mid-Victorian of rolled yellow gold, and I think I'm seeing rose gold, but can't tell from here. Very nice.
