Any simple meat pie recipes?

I have a good pie crust recipe but I have never put anything besides fruit/custard in one. I would like to make a savory pie. I plan on using deer as the meat, any creative ideas?

in the up in mich they have what is called a Cornish pasty . looks like a hostess fruit pie, but meat and veggies. has potatoes or turips or rutabagas diced with onions and any meat you want. filling is cooked then added to crusts .then baked. great for freezer also. get on the mich forum and ask for the recipe from the yoopers. (upper peninsula) gang

For something like a pot pie, prepare the beef, venison, squirrel, rabbit or chicken the
same as making a stew with your choice of vegetables. Cook completely & add to shell.
Just don't use too much liquid in the shell, season it up & add top pastry, cut a few slits
& bake as any fruit pie. While it bakes, slightly thicken the remaining broth to make a
gravy to spoon over the pot pie while serving at the table. The small hand held 'pasties'
aren't much different, use chopped or ground meat, onion, whatever, just with very little
liquid. Almost like making soup, nearly anything you like can be added to it.
