I recently had in my possesion an object that I wanted to share on this forum. My first thought was "Oh man, I gotta share this, those guys will appreciate it" But the more I thought about it, I realized I could have inadvertantly opened up an individual to theft of this object. Does anyone know if this has happened? I can imagine thieves peruse this forum looking for vulnerable individuals with "treasures". And no, I don't have the object anymore!

I never give out enough information about anything as to know where anything is.

I have dual alarm systems, policeman lives 2 houses down the street, and Mr Smith and Mr Wesson are my roommates.

I don't worry too much about it either:

video security cams
TRIPLE alarm system (100# St Bernard, 160# Newfoundland, and the 'beast' - our Lhasa)
And I am a light sleeper with a Bull close at hand:

(Besides, my ex got most everything I had that was of value >:( )

This has been happening allot on Craigslist all across the country,we had a guy here in Austin who was selling an I-phone and he agreed to sell it to the guy in a parking lot and the guy robbed him instead and I also herd of a women who lost her husband from some guy that answered their add and then killed him :icon_scratch:,so I guess you should be carefull.

ROFL

my guess most Thieves have only one Hobby "Stealing"
odds are the internet isn't even of intrest to them.

Internet Thieves work on identity theft.

and unless you post the hope diamond
along with the address it is at
saying you put it outside at the dog pen
every night,
& They have reason to believe this is True,
beyond doubt,
it's not going to Peak a Thieves intrest

I'm with Jeff on this one, and like Jeff, I have been active on TreasureNet for many years. I have never heard of any incident ever happening as a result of someone posting something on TreasureNet. So please post away with no worries.

Great topic...

I'm sure that if someone found a 5 carat diamond ring with a high $$$ appraised value...then went on to say it was found at Laguna Beach California and they lived in Fountain Valley...someone with enough investigative knowledge could eventually zero in...

Enough signs can be left on their trail...

So yes, its potentially possible for thefts to occur on TN...

The lesson is to obscure your finds...or simply do not post finds, as I do.

Looking for treasure honestly is hard work soi don,t think most thieves will bother us I agree with jeffof Pa on this. goldie
