I'm new here! Looks like a pretty cool place!

Would anyone have any information they could share about this pot. We bought it at an antique shop on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. The shop owner couldn't tell us much except she picked it up at an estate sale and thought it "looked neat".

It is 7 3/4 " tall and 23" around at it's largest. There are no maker's marks that I could find.

Looks like a nice pot. Somebody was into the Ying and Yang thing.

Welcome to Tnet.

Show us some rusty iron and pull tabs too. :D

Looks kinda modern as if turned on a wheel and then incised. The burnt areas seems like they were trying maybe for the Raku style but it did not work out right or maybe it just skorched in the kiln.
T-net is a lot of fun and welcome aboard!

I appreciate the input so far. Yes, I can see where it was thrown on a wheel. I hadn't really thought of it as being scorched, though. I just thought it was stained dark around the rim from a lot of handling. Here's a close up of the rim.
