Any Thoughts???

I was detecting an area in Virginia Beach where the remains from four different archaeological periods have been discovered (800BC - 1700AD). I got a few good hits near a heavily excavated site. Out of my findings I was able to piece together this-

.....It's about 3"-3½" Dia.

.....Any thoughts to what it might be, or time frame would be greatly appreciated!!!

Not sure but I'd guess part of an oil lamp or lantern, late 19th/early 20th century

yep, sometimes we try so hard to see it that we miss the obvious. but don't feel alone, there is a huge crowd of us that done similar things
