I was walking a creek next to my old elementary school in Virginia and saw this spoon laying up on the bank. I almost left it, because I thought it was modern, but it had the big US stamped on the front. The school was built in 1937 and there was a lot of history based around this creek, so I think it is old. Any Ideas? It looks like it has the name silco stainless on the back.

Not unlikely it came from the school. The way the federal Surplus Disposal system works is, once the stuff is dedicated for disposal any federal activity can get it for the asking. They reserve it for so many days and then it's offered to state agencies. After a prescribed time local activities can receive it. The next stop is either auction or destruction and scrap.
