I dig a lot of screaming iron signals, but they usually aren't this cool! I was just messing around in the woods and the signal was right under the leaves: 1915 New York license plate; that's 104 years old!

That was just the largest piece, but there were others and I gathered up as much as I could. I was able to piece it mostly back together too:

I actually think I salvaged enough to make out the number, which has more digits than I expected. 67514 if I'm not mistaken. I looked it up and NY State was the first state to require residents to register their motor vehicles and the first state issued license plates were 1910 so they don't get much older than this!

I wonder if you actually could run a plate number this old and get who owned it and what car it was off?

Wild find. I started looking for stuff in the ground in the 1960's and to this date have never found a license plate!

A very cool find. Nice!

That is so cool. One of those finds that you wish could talk.

Nice find. You found the part with the year on it, and that makes it even better.

Hi, nice old find. Congrats:icon_thumright: I think it would make a nice display piece

Now that's a keeper! Really old licence plates are always a great save. Sure beats that '79 piece of crap I dug last week.:laughing7:
