I am new to TH, but, I am no stranger to hunting. I love these things. I will post a pic after I find my dang camera. I have over 900 of them. Those are just my glass ones and porcelain power pieces. Doesn't even cover my large multiparts and a couple of whopper transposition pieces. I have bought less than 10 since I started collecting in 1996 when my father-in-law gave me my first one....damn him.....love the guy to death for introducing me to it. Guess he never thought I would become an animal about it.

I've got a few insulators. I used to work for an electric utility, so it was easy for me to see them and get interested. I had a boss who had a large collection, including a hand-carved wooden one.

I have a milkglass insulator.
1 that looks like Mickey Mouse ears
1 carnival glass insulator
Several common ones
2 or 3 Telegraph type insulators

Don't know the techical terms for collecting them. Do know that the colors of some older insulators are beautiful.

Here's a couple I found. The one on the right is really a greenish color and it says AM TEL & TEL Co on it. The one on the left is clear and it says HEMINGRAYRAY - 518, MADE IN U.S.A.

There's a bottle, jar, insulator show and swap meet in Thermopolis, WY this coming weekend. I'm gonna try to get there. I think it would be cool to go to a swap meet in Wyoming...might find some strange and interesting stuff. I like cowboy stuff, too, so it just seems like a great place to visit. I'll be leaving tomorrow night and try to get there by Sunday. If the weather turns bad, I'll never make it. So I hope the great weather continues, for a few more days at least.

nice stuff...when i find my camera i will post a group of mine.

Nice collection ! I've always liked insulators and do have a small collection. Thanks for sharing.

Hi guys I couldnt help noticing this! Im actually looking to become a collector of glass insulators, not really big into porcelain yet..Looking to build a starter collection!

As a kid I use to walk along the railroad tracks and pick the unbroken ones up off the ground and place them in boxes. To this day, I still have over 100 Brookfield, Hemingray and others of various colors. I even have one that has amethyst coloring. I haven't seen them in over 10 years. They are collecting dust at my parents house. I should get them out and sell them. You buying?

Well?Have you found your camera yet?I'd like to see em

I have 4 I found on an old abandoned Western Union telegraph line. They are clear glass and I have been using them for candle holders. They have dates on them , some 1940 and some 1941. I know they were western union because the poles and part of the line was still there and the poles had indented into the wood,"Western Union". My wife has tried to get me to throw them away, but I know some insulators are collectable. If you want one, PM me with your address and I will send them to you. Monty
