I have seen two postings. One was found buried in the sand and the other was in a fresh water lake.

When I find one I hope it has a really cool video of a gold ring or Spanish coin on it.

Ron Lord found one at the beach and Ive seen 3 or 4 posted that were found in rivers.

does the excal pick up or hit on go pros??? if it does what does it sound like. ive found iphones with excal

Yes, sounds just like the Iphone, loud and unclean high tone.

Ive seen a guy on youtube posting river finds and i think he found about 3 thats ive seen... Beau something i think was his name.... He just dives and comes up with awesome stuff!!!

Yeah... I love those videos he posts. He will even post video FROM the GoPro too, it's cool!!

I've found 2 gopro last summer on the sea bed.

One was at -40m, a Hero 3+ with a diving housing. I've watch the video but could recognize anyone.... offered to a friend of me to complete his FPV plane. FOund a second one at -80m deep with a regular housing when I was scuba detecting : dead, even the SD card was unreadable.

You must have a special detector as the CTX does not go more than 10 feet et the Excalibur 60 feet.

I got one last year in the wet sand. I was using my etrac and i think it came in like a zinc penny. Based on the date of the photos in the camera, only a couple, it indicated it had been in the sand for 21 days. No one claimed it on craigslist so I use it now.

There was a great video on Youtube, where one guy dropped his GoPro in the surf. It kept filming and was washed all over the place on the bottom. You could see feet and swimmers, plus at times the area was so silted with sand that you could see nothing. After about 20 minutes it was found. It showed how easy it would be to loose one that is missing a float.

I found a gopro 4 hero on a tripod in the surf on a Treasure Coast beach this past summer. It took some work and I was fortunate to find some pics still on it. I managed to ID the owner only because there was two pictures of his dad waxing a surfboard at a local surfboard shop. I saw the store name on the wall behind him and I was able to track the store and him down two days later. It was the second gopro he had lost (he had lost it while surfing) and he was really glad to get it back!!! :)

On Youtube Aqua Chigger or beau Omulet has a video of one he found with over a million views.. Great fresh water hunter. I have the GoPro but changed over to the olympus T-G3 for water hunting. I dove in the Keys with a Gopro did not like the video. You can alway e-bay any GOPRO you find. Or keep it the software for it is free.
