Went out with vanoldschool and keystone37 today to a couple of old houses and an empty lot where an old house was tore down. We didn't find too much, just the normal clad, toys and marbles along with the usual variety of can slaw. I just love can slaw, it sounds so good in the earphones. Makes you dig it up every time. I did manage one decent find, a 1942 Fiji penny. How it ended up in an empty lot in WA state is anyones guess. HH

A person from Fiji, came to Washington State in 1945, 60 some years ago and had a Metal detector like one we have never seen before, he said to himself... "self" I bet some day Tom and Scott will start Metal Detecting for Silver Coins, I want to ruin all of there Future Hunts so I will Find all the Silver coins In Washington State before they have the Chance to, so Mr Fiji, went to over 50 excellent areas, all old... of course and dug up all of the Silver Coins, Laughing Hysterically, he had to bend over from Choking, and out fell his 1 cent coin!

sounds about right

Never saw one of those coins before, can you send it to me for closer inspection :laughing9:

Small island in the South Pacific. Maybe someone brought it back from WW2 ::)

The yanks were there during WW2, when they werent hear stealing our women. Interesting coin, not worth much but as far as pennys go, not many were minted and I suspect none between 1943-146 at least because of the war. In 1943 the 23rd Infantry Division was assigned the task of defending, Viti Levu, the main island of the Fiji Island chain. There were also a heap of US nurses on Fiji.

Cool coin....great job..!!! :headbang: :headbang:

Cool, probably a souvenir from WWII! HH, Mike
