Found this bullet about a foot deep in pa mountains. It has never been shot as the bullet is still in the casing. not sure if you can see in the picture but there is a ring around the middle and it looks like lines going up and down around the shell. Thank you. tmp_20140527_203512-1848559209.webp tmp_20140527_203523-801353047.webp

Its a copper jacketed round that has been fired, the lines going up and down the jacket are from the rifling in the barrel. Most likely a very modern round.

Badly deformed. My W.A. guess would be a .30 cal FMJ w/round tip - like an old 230 gr 30-40 Krag round (.30 USG)

Thanks for the replies. Was hoping it was something old. My dad told me that the French and Indian war was taken place around where we camp. Was up there this weekend trying to learn on my new at pro. Guess I've found nothing yet. But around where I was detecting there were 3 big rock piles. Bad 4 feet high and around 6foot in diameter. Still no idea who or why they are there. The mountain across from us is supposed to have some old bunker or foundation of one. Didn't have a chance to hike there this time but I will on July 4th when I go.
