I found this U.N.C. *University of North Carolina?) buckle yesterday and was wondering if anyone can help date it.

It is the old style from Civil war to late 1800's (probably later) with the wide tang for holding the belt. It is 2.5" by 1.25" and appears to be made out of a copper alloy and may have been silver plated at some point. You can see where two pins or a loop were attached.

Thanks for any help you can give because I don't know buckles.
