I found it 6-7 inches in the ground at an old park where I have found 1850s-1940s coins.

I have no idea what the front is, and there is no writing on the back.
 

That type is called a rivet-button or tack-button.

Your version, whose front shows stars arranged in an arc above a wreath, has been around since the 1930s and is still being sold today. See the photo of a packet currently for sale at fabric-&-sewing-supplies stores.

wow great find! Thanks a ton for posting the solution! I'm not too surprised that it's not too old based on the back, but it's a cool find regardless!
