This thing is made of two different metals. I believe aluminum and steel. The aluminum part swivels and has a gap of maybe 1/8" between it and the steel part if you pry them apart. Probably something was sandwiched in between them at one time. The center pin is a machine thread oval head screw with a straight screwdriver slot. I haven't tried to turn it yet. The other two pins look to be riveted to the aluminum plate and stick up a bit. Any ideas will be read, considered, folded, spindled and mutilated as the case may be! :laughing7:

Looks like a 'push/pull mechanism', but don't know what for...

I guess it truly is an odd-ball find if none of the experts here can I.D. it! :dontknow:

The two outside fittings look to be post that a slotted leather strap would attach to. I've never seen anything like it.

It looks like it may be an "inside" part from two attached pieces that are allowed to swivel. So it may be from something common that we've just never seen the inner workings to. Aluminum would likely put it after 1910 or so (SUPER difficult to make before electric furnaces).

My crazy wild arse guess will be something from a car of the 20's or 30's.
