Being that small probably not a door knob.If it wasn't brass or copper I would suggest an Eye washer,But all of those I have seen were glass.

I think it is a knob, but for opening a gate or a stable door...

We believe it's copper, but I'm not an expert by any means.

I "think" the bad memories comment was an attempt at sarcastic humor - don't believe it was meant to make fun of anyone. Is difficult to read facial expressions through the words on a 'puter screen.
