Are gold detectors usable for coins etc.

Hey there. Total newbie talking from New Zealand. Looking to buy my first metal detector second hand, and looking at a Minelab XT 18000. I am aware that it is a gold detector, but I don't know if it can be used practically for coin hunting etc, which would be my main past time. Can anyone advise. And is this detector any good, too old

I have a whites Goldmaster v/sat that I have been trying out in the yard, have found a few coins but lots of junk also. Did find a Susan B yesterday. but dug alot of foil and tabs. So if you like alot of digging. they will work great. May be to sensitive. and mine doesnt have discrimination. So I am looking at getting a good coin machine. hope this helps.

If you want to get a detector thats good all around for both you should get the MXT. I have one anyd they are great all around detectors
