I want to be careful here, but I’ve had someone try to get me to bite on a costume modern fake before.

We have tourist trap type stores here that sell arrowheads and arrowhead necklaces as souvenirs.

I have studied these simple concept copies (made by the thousands and shipped in from third world countries).

My apologies if this offends anyone.

It just looks freshly made. But I’ll leave it at that.

I suppose that's always a possibility.......but I believe highly unlikely due to the location (May River) and the fact that it was recovered under the silt by an experienced Northeast Shipwreck Scuba Diver. We just don't find them up north on shipwrecks and the points I've seen up here are all usually white quarts.

If you can post clear, close-up, photos of all the edge work including inside the Notches under white light, the details will help tell the story.
The May River is well known for finding Shark Tooth Fossils.
It doesn’t matter where the scuba diver is from. Collectors of all ages are digging through there all the time looking for fossils to sell.
I’m leaning toward modern made jewelry recently lost by an adventurer.

But, good pictures could convince me otherwise. 🤓

I hope for you that it is authentic, but my 1st thought was also that it looks very similar to the mass produced points being made overseas and marketed in America. Hopefully our members from the South Carolina low country can give better info on whether your point looks like one that could be found in that area.

Do a side view and if your point is thick like this one it is most likely a point made in India. Like previously said those things have been coming in the country for years by the bucket's full and could be any where.
