I find these all the time in the fields I hunt. Sometimes it looks as though someone cracked it opened to see what material is inside. The ones I find like yours with the circle are usually in the same area I find fired items, so I guess they may have fire popped (heated up and a piece pops off). This is just a theory of mine, and I'm not an expert.

Looks the same to me as well, I found a lot of those walking the fields along streams and creeks in Missouri...
