As of 10-2-07, you don't have to touch home plate to score!

I was up until after midnight here in the East, watching the Rockies and Padres go 13. Anyone who watched it, or saw replays, knows what I'm saying: you no longer have to actually touch home to score a run, at least in a playoff game! ;D In that spirit, I am going to claim silver today, even though I didn't actually find any! I did find a no date Buff and nine wheats, including four in the hole with the Buff. Two of the wheats were 20 and 27; there has to be silver somewhere close. I also found this "Civilian Defense" badge, and assume it's a play item. It seems sturdy enough to be real, though. Throw in .28 in clad, and none of my goals were met today except the one to get out and enjoy the morning hunting.

i watched the game and Barrett had the plate blocked as good as possible. There was no way the plate was touched !! it's like they said during the game, on a play like that the ump would have been right in there to make the call immediately. Whats up with that ????? now we have umps who knowingly make incorrerct calls!!!!!!!!!

Just so you know ........ I will be rooting for the Cubbies !!

I hope Lou prays for a good set of umps, i know i will be !!

i think it is from the cold war, like the people who direct civilians to the defense shelters

Ya know to me he very well could have touched the plate and unless we have a way to remove the flying dirt from the replay no one will really know for sure. If you watch, Barretts foot does get moved by Holiday's arm so he may have got a small piece of the corner before eating dirt.

The shame of all this is that I recall only two angles on the replay; I hope the real playoff games are covered better by TV. There are plenty of ways to provide conclusive evidence, especially at the plate. Better for this game to end that way, as opposed to an LCS or World Series game.

Nice finds on the Buffalo and badge. As Jonnyrebel00 said, if you notice in the replay his foot was on home plate. The runners hand hits his foot and his foot moves, ball is dropped foot on plate hand hits foot on plate, SAFE!!!. Agreed that the Ump was not in the best position but right call. I don't care for either team as I follow the Red Sox. Go Sox!!.

I'm a Pirate fan, so you know what our misery is like. I'm also a baseball fan, and I hate to see such an important game ended by what appears to be a flimsy call. I would enjoy a Cleveland-Chicago World Series; the Indians haven't won since '48 and the Cubs... ::)
