The lady has lived there 45 years so I was hoping there wouldn't be as much trash as what shows up at old rental properties. And I wouldn't normally have dealt with much trash, except I was looking for a small gold ring with a ruby that she said her daughter lost around 1967. I usually skip the 10's, 30's, 40's and 50's on the ID numbers. Just can't see digging all the trash while hoping to find a ring. Even last night, it was all pull tabs and downspout trimmings. Never found the ring, but since I spent so much time there, I didn't get done. Will get back tomorrow.

Any advice on weeding out trash signals from gold on the XLT? I'd like to find that ring for her. She's a sweetie.

Did get a '62 Rosie, some wheaties ( 1910, 19, 34) a 1944P silver nickel and a trade token. The reverse side of the token was smooth - no pattern.

Very cool finds. You are doing well. You have to dig trash and nickles to find gold. Keep at it you may find it.

The only sure way to small gold is dig everything. Such is the nature of VLF.

Nice finds.

Yep, I agree with Badger. The only way to find the small gold is to dig all of
those lower number signals. It's kind of like you have to pay your pennance.
Dig a thousand pull tabs, and then you find a gold ring. For me, it's just about
to the point where I don't want to dig those signals anymore, and then you pop
out a nice gold ring, and you start all over... diggin all those signals!!
Do you use the tone ID? That will help some, but it's pretty tough to tell the
difference between a pull tab, and a small gold ring.

Hey Steve, your going to be digging those trash signals. The XLT I had used when finding small gold rings. Usually a solid 21 was gold, try digging those signals between 19-23 and see what happens! Good Luck!
