Sans my first cup o coffee, my brain wouldn't comprehend. (this was the first of the year) Then it popped out...Indigo Bunting. Got a real crummy shot with the I-phone.
We get both the Painted and Indigo here with fair regularity. One thing I can do good is let brushy spots prosper and then so do the birds.

My indigo buntings just showed up along with the orioles and rose breasted gross beaks. The buntings hit the sunflower seeds when they first get here then switch to bugs when there are more. Here's a pic with a female bunting. You'd never ID one without the male near. Gary

Those birds are pretty. Check out this bird at my neighbor's feeder yesterday morning.

good job Todd's Point. You got the whole flock.

thanks to gunsil,dts52, Ronwoodcraft, tamrock, HCW, Kray gelder also, you guys are appreciated.

Nice photo! :occasion14:

We love our bird feeders, so much fun to watch. I will say Humming birds are fierce fighters, we have three that are always fighting...every year the same thing. Great in-flight aerobics. :icon_thumleft:

I go through a 40 pound bag of seed in less than 3 weeks. But, I can't get close enough to the feeder to get any decent shots!

hey Prof...they sure don't want to share that,s a fact

Try putting it right outside your kitchen window.

I can't. For one, we have a screened porch and two, we have a small fenced area for our Yorkie. I can get close to the sparrows and blackbirds but the cardinals, Jays and other colorful birds fly as soon as I open the back door. I have even considered buying a camouflaged pop up tent like hunters use. That would be a whole lot cheaper than a telephoto lens!
