Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Found this in area where Revolutionary troops went through and house dates to 1789. I thought it was pewter but after cleaning it up it isn't pewter and it's magnetic. It says something but I can't make it out. Probably just junk. Any ideas?

looks like an old metal electrical box knockout.

It may just be my eyes, but I think I see some sort of pattern as shown in the close-up pic below...

Yes, I thought I could see a design too. That way round it looks a bit like a dog or bear head, in profile facing right with open mouth:

Turn it another way and it looks a bit like a tiger head or other big cat, facing right in three-quarter profile:

I think I've gone-a-bit-pareidolic. I'm sure it's not Elvis though.

Could be a sporting jacket button, brass alloy front and iron back. That would explain the design on the front (common for those buttons) and if it gave a “pewter” reading (copper and iron together sometimes rings up as mid-range). The age would be late 1800s to early 1900s.

Maybe something along these lines of overall/work clothes buttons. It could be a rivet style from looking at the back.
