got the AT yesterday but due to numerous pre existing problems, like the AC quitting and family showing up, had to wait until this morning. it was the first night so far with the AC actually working and it sure felt good. so with just an hour or so to hunt, i headed out to one of my spots, still pretty wet from the last rain and muddy, would not take the ACE to this spot until much dryer. I really wanted to see how the iron audio worked and it was pretty happy with it, also wanted to see if the AT would pick up anything deeper. the ground was wet, and after ground balancing, i set the AT GOLD to Disc 1 with iron at 32 and began the hunt. nothing spectacular in the quick hunt, one nickle, three copper pennies, a .223 bullet, very old shotgun brass, three pull rings, one smashed aluminum can (vienna sausage), assorted foil, a couple of pull tabs, a couple of aluminum bottle caps but only one bottle cap that i choose to dig to verify that it was indeed a bottle cap. it was rather awesome to hear the tell tale growl of iron and then it was up to me to dig or not. yes, i have a lot to learn... oh yeah, really thought that i might have a silver the way it was screaming at me but it was just 1973 penny. it was interesting to also see the numbers even when they flipped back and forth but i figure a lot of that has to due with oxidation of the metals giving off the variances in signals as well as the alloys themselves. all in all, i am very happy with the performance and can't wait to get back out to do it again. you kind of really wonder if you are doing the right thing when up grading, second guessing if you have spent your money wisely or not, are you really getting that much more? Yeah, for me it was a good choice for the style that i like to hunt. with the ACE, i dug up a lot of rusty iron every trip, not so this time... i think i like this AT better the more i think about it. time should prove me right...hopefully! LOL

i forgot, did i mention it was muddy? well it was and the AT was as well when it was all said and done. took less than a minute to rinse the while thing off.... sure is nice! yahoo!

I think you will really love it in the end it is a good machine. American coins will roughly be these #'s pennies zinc (70 to 75)pennies copper (79 to 82) nickles (52 to 53) dimes 81 quarters (83 to 85) halves and dollar coins around 90. This is a rough set of numbers as the soil can alter the numbers also the condition of the coin, a chewed up zinc penny can come in in the 60's also lawnmower cut coins will register way off.Hope this helps.

Back-of-the boats numbers are good. I pay special attention to anything near "50".
Good luck.
Peace

Yeah from 40's to 50's are my favorite numbers all my rings have been in that range.

thanks for the advice, have only found silver rings so far but i dig anything so lots of pull tabs and rings with the foil as well. its just a matter of time. i seemed to be chasing signals for a little bit, not sure why at this point.
