Well, wife willing, I'll be getting my AT Pro this week while we are at Myrtle Beach celebrating our 1-year anniversary. I'm very excited about getting this detector, as I heard it works in saltwater. I already know about auto ground-balancing, but what other settings should I focus on?

Thanks!

You will probably have to notch your sensitivity down a bit. It will depend on the beach.

Learn the manual ground balance as well, you may need to notch it down a few more numbers to keep the chatter down. Mine was useless in the Turks and Caicos, but guys have good luck with them in Florida, hope the salt conditions are with you!

Go to the GARRETT website and review the video on salt water ATPRO tuning... should get you up to date fast.

i use it on florida beaches 100% in the shallow wet sand dont let it touch the water it will false . it will auto ground balance to 12 13 in the water , turn sens down one more notch helps but still get some chatter, in the dry sand most of the time at pro will not ground balance, because lack of minerals. might have to just tap the sand pumping the coil to get any reading , usually in the dry of dry sand set on 90 closer to water but still dry sand manually set on 70

I had good luck with mine at Myrtle Beach. I hunted in pro zero, sense 2 bars down and manual GB to 11 in the water. On wet sand auto GB often and lower it manually by 1. Dry sand was no problem at all, hit the towel line and have fun. Black sand beaches will render the Pro pretty much useless though. I also heard other people say standard coin worked for them better in the wet. Experiment and you will figure out what you have real quick.
