All Treasure Hunting
Got up early for a planned hunt with my buddy today. We were worried about the rain but luckily it held off long enough for us to hunt for a while. Prior to going to our planned location (Late 1700's homesite that is still in use today) I decided to hunt for a few minutes in my buddy's side yard. (his house is early 1800s but we hunted it pretty well on previous occasions) My first signal was a high 50's VDI at 5 inches and this beautiful 1866 indian head cent was the result.

Found a few flat buttons at the 1700s site. Unfortunately no designs on them. All plain buttons.

Almost had a heart attack when this was dug. I thought I was going to get to cross gold coin off of the bucket list. Alas... it is only one of those gold colored religious medallions.. it's not nearly heavy enough to be gold. :BangHead:

Here is a compilation of today's digs.

I also hunted a few playgrounds and a park recently and a few interesting things turned up. Since I was posting I figured I would attach a picture of those finds as well. The chain is 20 inches long and is marked sterling. Thanks for looking and HH.

Nice finds Evolution.

That Indian head looks like the one I lost in my side yard. Nice day for hunting.

It's funny. We've both been by that spot several times and we missed it every time. It was a solid signal. I'm sure the wet ground made the signal a little better. I'm sure there's a few more out there for you to find... :laughing7:.... Maybe not any more 1866 ones but a few more regular date ones. :laughing7:

That's a fine1866 IH and other real nice finds there, Evolution!
I've found three IH's first two horrible shape , and last week an 1864 that's not bad tho not as nice as your 1866!

nice finds congrats HH

That's a great looking IH. Congrats............Hogge

Love finding those old coppers that have such a wonderful green patina. They shoulda made these coins in green to begin with in my opinion. ;)

HH!

As well as the nice Indian ¢ that silver chain is a nice, and hard to come by find. I got only one ever.

Lol. I like the green coins too. So much prettier than a brown non-dug coin. :laughing7: I was very fortunate when I found my Vermont landscape copper. The dirt fell off easily and it didn't need any cleaning at all... I was able to preserve the green patina.

Thanks for the reply Rick. I was really hoping that chain was gold when I dug it. It was a sunny day when I dug it and the way the sun hit it I couldn't immediately see that it was silver and not gold. A 20 inch gold chain like that would have been sweet... $$$.

Congratulations on scoring a very nice looking semi-key date IH Cent! The flat buttons rounded up the hunt nicely.
