Awesome Family Father's Day Hunt!
Today at around six I decided to take my dad metal detecting for Father's Day, at my favorite spot in which tons of colonial things have been found. I took my mother along, she has went a few times with me in the past, I let her use my old T2 SE while me and my dad used the new one. For the most part of the hunt, not much was found, I found what looks like a carved bullet or musket ball and a weird broken thing which may be a broken buckle. Strangely enough not a single button from any of us. My mother found a pretty cool brass drawer pull, which was probably the best find between us for the day. A couple hours in to the hunt and it around 8:00 and near dark, which comes way sooner in the middle of the thick woods, we are thinking about leaving when my mother got one last signal... three inches from where we found a nail a couple days ago. The signal she got was quite faint and iffy, deep too, in the end she says, "Hey! I found a huge button!", I look and say, "That not a button, That's an old copper!, congrats on a first, I hope it cleans up!". When we got home I cleaned it up and could not believe it, it was a copper right on the top of my bucket list, very rough but IDable. A Liberty Cap Large cent! The coin ended up going to me to add to my collection of early copper which I was very proud about. In the end I guess that this was a pretty good father's day. I made her an account on TNet a while back and told her to post it on there, she told me to post it for her tomorrow.
Anyways, I'm having a hard time getting the photos of the rest of the finds to my computer, but managed to get the Liberty Cap, I will get the rest up soon.
