I've had two great outings. Silver & other goodies. Here's the tally...

1912 3 cent piece from great britain

Two 1912 barbers - one of which is the BEST condition barber I ever dug. Aside from the soot, looks like it was dropped yesterday.

1943 merc

1900 indian head

1848 braided hair cent in beat up condition

1894 barber quarter

A very cool jewlery/tile thingey...from the late 1800's or early 1900's. It came out of the ground intact & each square or tile on the piece has a different saying or expression on it. One tile says "Good form but not formality". Another tile says "Sermons and soda the day after", which I believe is an alcoholics saying. Another one says "There's to love the only fire against which there is no insurance". There's also different beings on there. One looks like a winged man. Another looks like a man & women, etc. If anyone has any info on this unique piece, please chime in...

WOW! That Dime is in awesome shape! great finds!

incredible assortment you got there. man that coin is in incredible shape. you must have been doing flips on that one. love the sayings on the flag piece. very very cool.

Your tile thingey seems to be a watch fob. Here's a new casting that someone has turned into a bracelet (http://ericaweiner.com/item.php?item_id=532) - back then it would not have been a woman's piece of jewelry - but this shows the detail nicely.

here's a similar one on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ANTIQUE-BRASS-WATCH-FOB-SPIRITED-MORAL-MOTTOS-/370520421309#ht_1608wt_698) that shows the whole thing, with circular medal below.

this is a blurry pix, but the comments about the authors of the quotes might interest you.

Awesome coins and fob!! :icon_thumright:

1912 Seems to be your year. I would guess there is at least 20 years of circulation difference between those two dimes. One thing: I once asked my dad (b 1930) if he remembers any barber coins in change. He said he didn't, which would tell me that it seems most of the barber coins were out of general circulation by 1940 or so. Any one else with information on that? It is like steel cents---I had a ton of them in the mid 50's in my bank, in the mid 60's we would occasionally find one in circulation. And that would have been in a weekly $10 bag of pennies. I stopped doing that in 1966 and haven't seen a steel cent since.
