I found a curious axe head about three feet down digging a fence post hole. It is curious to me as it has nowhere for the handle to be installed. It doesn't appear broken either ad the back has obviously been used to hammer things. Any help with an ID?

Thats a axe head converted to a wedge. Wood splitter wedge.

Easy answer! Thank you. I figured wedge but my brain sucks sometimes.

Almost looks like it was cut from a bigger piece?

Nice!!! Congrats!!!
